Visiometa 1.1 - Thermal Simulation and Exothermic Materials
by Rene Romeike
The latest release of our process planning software introduces advanced thermal simulation, enabling users to integrate feeding aids into virtual process planning and achieve more reliable process validation.
The use of feeding aids is state of the art, particularly for iron-based casting materials. Visiometa 1.1 now allows the user to integrate such products in their virtual process planning and to visualize their thermal effects. This required upgrading the existing modulus calculation to a full-fledged thermal simulation.
As part of these efforts, we have made it possible for ambitious users to directly manipulate many parameters of the numerical computation. For example, the time step size can be adjusted in great detail. This allows users to tailor both the speed of the analysis and its accuracy to their specific needs.
We have also put together a database of the exothermic and insulating feeding aid products from Chemex Foundry Solutions (member of HA Group) and streamlined our design toolkit so users can add these aids to their project with just a few mouse clicks. Part of the materials database has also been revised to improve workflow and clarity.
A great deal of time has also been devoted to minor improvements aimed at further enhancing ease of use and the quality of the results. For example, the new visualization of the discrete grid allows for the optimal choice of meshing parameters, ensuring short computation times while maintaining sufficient accuracy in the representation.
With these new features, we have taken another step toward deeper validation of the processes planned with Visiometa. This will remain a key aspect of our technical development in the coming years.
